You know itβs summertime when the daylilies in your flower garden start to bloom.
Photo taken during the Summer in my Illinois garden. It wasn't until the 19th and 20th centuries that clear, intense yellows and oranges began to sparkle in French Impressionist paintings. And it wasn't until a decade or two ago that bright yellow found its way into our perennial borders. Rich, glowing, golden yellow dallies (Hemerocallis) draw the eye like a magnet, their sleek trumpets floating on a sea of rough-textured phlox in muted pinks.
