Such a surprise to find large patches of sundew growing on my front verge in Bridgetown, Western Australia. We had never planted sundew on our verge and this is the first time I have seen any appear.
This common sundew, endemic to Australia, is a carnivorous species of flowering plant that grows in bogs, marshes and fens. Sundews trap and digest insects on sticky leaves covered with enzyme-secreting nectar. They are found all over the world.

I am a keen photographer and digital artist. My particular interest is in nature with emphasis on floral work and landscapes. My gallery on this site also contains some of my manipulated photography and photo paintings, most of which have originated from my photography. You will also find some digital art in the form of fractals, kaleidoscopes and patterns, some created from my photography. Sit back and enjoy. All images are ©Elaine Teague. All rights reserved. Great find, and lovely photo, they are difficult to find in th bush but in the verge that is unusual. need to look after it for future years.
Elaine Teague replied:
Thanks Deane. I am hoping they will regenerate, or even multiply, next year.
Elaine Teague
Yes, I hope they will all come back again next year with all their babies.
