Scanned from silk embroidery inserted into Kensitas cigarette pack in the 1930's.
Produced in the 1930’s, Kensitas cards were woven in silk and depicted popular garden flowers of the day. Each silk came inside its own protective cover that included the growing information, history, and background of each plant, as well as an ad for the product.

I am a keen photographer and digital artist. My particular interest is in nature with emphasis on floral work and landscapes. The galleries on this site also contain some of my manipulated photography and photo paintings, which have originated from my photography. You will also find some digital art in the form of fractals, kaleidoscopes and patterns created from my photography. Sit back and enjoy. All images are ©Elaine Teague. All rights reserved. Same question as Louise: We’re they that small? And we’re they meant to be collected?
Elaine Teague replied:
I can't find my originals. I put them in too safe a place, but this is the info I got from https://kensitasflowers.co.uk/sizes.htm Given away with 10 cigarettes and made to fit inside the packet, measuring 4cm. wide and 6.75 cm. high. MEDIUM - Given away with 20 cigarettes again fitting inside the packet and measuring 5.5 cm. wide and 7.5 cm. high. As albums were available to insert the printed fabric I guess they were intended as collectables like many images on card that were given away in cigarette packets.

They are all gorgeous, Elaine. So were they the size of a cigarette box or bit larger and folded?
