Images such as this show us just how much easier we have things in the 21st century. When I see exhibits like this I always ask myself if I thought I would have survived back then. I know I would have but life was so difficult then. In Massachusetts, there is a place called "Sturbridge Village" which is a living museum where they recreate life in rural New England in the 1790's through the 1830's. During visitor hours, the now hired staff actually live as if it were still the 1700-1800's. It is quite interesting and eye-opening. :)

Oh, I would love to do a tour of that museum Len. I saw something similar in York, UK I think it was, when we moved through set up villages in a little train type vehicle, but they were made up figures, not human. I suppose, if you didn't know any different, the lifestyle then would have been acceptable and you would have been contented with it.
