Description
The Enanty Barn is one of the oldest extant buildings in the Mingenew district. It was constructed as an accommodation/storage outcamp for shepherds who walked in their flocks for annual washing (in the adjacent Lockier River), and shearing.
The building adjoins the Lockier River and stands some 25m from the road reserve beyond a grove of eucalyptus where it is clearly visible to passers-by.
The building measures 10.5m x 13m overall and comprises the main area of the barn, of stone construction under a corrugated iron gable roof, with two small rooms on the north side under a skillion roof, one with a fireplace. The building was partly restored in early 1994.
