Description
2012: Taken in Bridgetown, Western Australia. This area by the Blackwood River was full of beautiful wattle trees that made a spectacular display at the end of winter. They were all chopped down, albeit for a fairly good reason. They were throwing up saplings everywhere and seeds were being carried downstream and causing problems. All the loppings were burnt and this is the result. Apparently we are getting a pretty reserve at some time in the future. In the meantime..........
Update 2016: More saplings have come up, along with other bushy plants and weeds. Area has not been touched since the controlled burn in 2012. A few months ago a notice went up that there will be another controlled burn. The saga will continue no doubt.
Update 2020: Vegetation has regrown, including some more wattle saplings, but at least local volunteers have progressively been carrying out new plantings of native bushes.
